Open Cluster - Luminosity Function -Mass Segregation
Scientific paper
In this paper the member stars of M67 are redetermined from 1067 stars in the region of the cluster by using 4 plate pairs taken with the 40 cm astrograph at Shanghai Observatory. Based on this work, the radius, age, distance, HR diagram, luminosity function, mass, velocity dispersions and mass segregation effects are discussed in some details. It is found that the radius of M67 is 8.6 pc, its age 5.0 × 109 years, the distance modulus (V-Mv)o = 9.63 +/- 0.33, and the corresponding distance 843+138-119pc, the luminosity mass of the cluster is determined to be 1055μsolar the virial mass 2750μsolar. It is disclosed from the analysis that the M67 stars show in some measure a mass segregation in both space and velocity, although the effect is not significant.
