Magnetic data obtained by the Mars 2, 3, and 5 probes on both the day and night sides of the planet are analyzed. It is found that the dipole axis is inclined to the Mars rotation axis by an angle of about 15 deg, and that the north pole of the dipole is situated in the southern hemisphere at a longitude of about 270 deg. The magnetic dipole value of Mars, as determined from gasdynamic models and according to field characteristics in the tail, is found to be (1.2-2.4) x 10 to the 22nd G/cu cm.
