Presented are photometric and spectroscopic (on two nights simultaneous) observations of V834 Cen, obtained during a period when the system was passing from low to high state. Observed variations of brightness, radial velocities, and emission line shapes are consistent with formerly proposed models of the system. In observed low state, characterized by particularly faint luminosity, no orbital modulation of brightness was present. The hydrogen, helium, and ionized calcium emission lines show very similar radial velocity curves, and most are probably produced in the same region of the binary.
