Lifetime measurements in W II have been made for transitions to the 5d^46s ^6D_9/2 ground term from the 2^nd lowest J=11/2^- level at 2204 Å , the 11^th lowest 7/2^- level at 2008 Å , and the 3^rd lowest J=11/2^- level at 2079 Å . The values obtained are τ (2204)=7.7± 0.5, τ (2008)=2.7± 0.2, and τ (2079)=3.5± 0.2 ns. Supporting theoretical calculations have also been made, which provide branching ratio estimates so that oscillator strengths can be deduced from the measured lifetimes. Theoretical eigenvectors exhibit complicated mixing effects, expecially in the odd-parity states. The results will be discussed in the context of astrophysical spectroscopic data obtained from orbiting telescopes.
