Multiwavelength observations of blazars have demonstrated that blazars are variable at all accessible wavelengths and on all timescales at which they have been studied. Thus variability is a fundamental property of this class of objects. The spectral energy distribution of blazars is doubly peaked. Investigations of the variability behavior simultaneously at different wavelengths allows one to identify leads and lags in the variations and provides important tests of models. Recent developments in the multiwavelength variability studies of blazars will be summarized.
