Observations of D/H in the local interstellar medium (Moos et al. 2002) reveal a constant D/H ratio of (1.52 +/- 0.08) x 10-5, however there is a large scatter in the D/H ratio for stars located outside the local bubble (d >= 200pc; Moos et al. 2002; Hoopes et al. 2003). We report on our Far Ultraviolet Spectroscopic Explorer observations of the subdwarfs LB 3241 [(l, b) = (273.o7, -62.o48); d = 610 pc] and PG 0952+519 [(l, b) = (164.o07, +49.o01); d = 530 pc]. Numerous interstellar lines of D 1, O 1, N 1, Fe 2, and P 2 are detected. We present the results of our combined curve-of-growth and profile fitting methods for all species are presented. At distances of 500-600pc these subdwarfs are located well outside the local bubble. Although values of H 1 are unavailable, we present D/N and D/O which enable further constraints to be placed on the variability of D 1 outside the local bubble.
This work is based on data obtained for the Guaranteed Time Team by the NASA-CNES-CSA FUSE mission. Financial support has been provided by NASA contract NAS5-32985.
