ET Cephei --- an RR Lyrae with a Strong Blazhko Effect

Observations were made of ET Cephei, a suspected RR Lyrae variable star (GCVS), using the 24-inch Sawyer telescope and 1024 X 1024 CCD camera at Wellesley College on 11 nights between 5 September 1997 and 12 November 1997. We could not fit a period to the earlier observations, but observations between 17 October 1997 and 12 November 1997 clearly show an RR Lyrae light curve with a period of 0.33141 days and an amplitude of variation of about 0.6 magnitudes in V. Phasing the earlier data to this period shows that the phase at maximum steadily increases with time with maximum occurring before phase 0.8 in mid September. The amplitude of variation also increases with time with the minimum being brighter by about 0.2 magnitudes and the maximum being at least 0.1 magnitude fainter in September than in November.
