Sensitive imaging atmospheric Cherenkov detectors have been used to observe very high energy gamma rays (E_gamma >= 100 GeV) from several pulsar driven nebulae, a shell-type supernova remnant, and three AGN. In spite of the limited number of such detections one already sees differences between the universe at these energies and the universe as revealed by the lower energy photons detected from EGRET. Recent results from the two brightest TeV AGN, Markarian 421 and Markarian 501, will be used to illustrate these differences.
