We present results of observational programs with the Navy Prototype Optical Interferometer (NPOI) to measure the positions of individual stars and study their limb darkening, and to determine the parameters of binary star systems. The majority of these results were obtained using three elements of the NPOI, observing with twenty spectral channels covering the wavelength range from 520 nm to 850 nm, and a maximum baseline of 38 m. These observations include measurements of the closure phase, which allow us to make images of simple systems such as binary stars. Expansion of the NPOI is currently underway which, when completed, will allow observations with six elements and a maximum baseline of 437 m. The NPOI is a joint project of the Naval Research Laboratory, the Naval Observatory, and the Lowell Observatory, and is located on Anderson Mesa near Flagstaff, Arizona. The NPOI project is funded by the Office of Naval Research and by the Oceanographer of the Navy.
