Several features in globular and open star cluster research are examined. The development of the main sequence is discussed in three stages, hydrogen burning in the center of the star, contraction of short duration, and hydrogen burning from a thick shell source. Data from seven X-ray emission sources are presented whose positions coincide with globular clusters. X-ray emission research with the UHURU satellite is also considered. The frequency gradient of elements in the Milky Way is investigated with emphasis on the decrease of frequency towards the outer boundaries. The globular cluster catalog of Harris and Racine (1979) is recommended along with others.
