The paper examines variational problems of optimal control of a spacecraft descending in the Jupiter atmosphere. The solution of all problems was made with the optimal location of the navigational corridor of the entry with respect to the height of the specified pericenter, taking into account limitations of permissible acceleration loading. It was assumed that spacecraft control was accomplished by varying the banking angle. Numerical results are presented which make it possible to evaluate the effectiveness of lift-drag ratio and optimal control as compared with a ballistic descent.
