When account is taken of the finite resistivity, energy equation, and generalized Ohm's law, it can be shown that the propagation of nonlinear magnetosonic waves in a warm plasma is described by a KdV-Burgers' equation. The stationary shock solutions for the latter are discussed. It is suggested that shocks may be responsible for the observed discontinuities in MHD fluctuations in the solar atmosphere.
