The interstellar radiation field in four passbands centered at 1565 A, 1965 A, 2365 A and 2740 A is presented from observations made over the entire sky with the S2/68 sky-survey telescope in the ESRO TD-1 satellite. The detailed distribution over the whole sky of the observed ultraviolet radiation from direct starlight is tabulated. The total interstellar radiation field (direct plus diffuse) integrated over the whole sky is presented at these four wavelengths; the contribution due to diffuse galactic light being estimated from the background data of the S2/68 instrument. The observed radiation field is extrapolated down to 912 A using galactic model calculations. The resultant interstellar radiation field between 912 A and 2740 A is compared with previous theoretical and observational estimates.
