Observations of a sample of bright elliptical galaxies (photographic magnitude less than 16) identified with radio sources from the B 2 catalogue, made with the Loiano 152 cm telescope, in order to study the distribution of the angle between the optical major axis and the radio axis are reported. No clear evidence is found for preferred orientation, even if, considering the inner part of the optical object (less than or equal to 6 kpc), there is a slight trend of the major axis to be aligned with one of the principal axes (major or minor) of the optical core of the galaxy. In a few objects with dust lanes the results of Kotanyi and Ekers (1979) (that the radio axis is generally perpendicular to the dust lanes) are confirmed.
