One of the best documented and least understood relations is the density- morphology relation, ellipticals tend to inhibit the regions of high galaxian density, spirals mostly populate the low density regions. Environment dependent galaxy formation or evolution could be to blame for that. The Very large Array has been used in a variety of ways to address these questions. Neutral hydrogen (H I) observations will be presented of galaxies in a wide range of environments. Optically unbiased searches directly in the H I line show the distribution of optically inconspicuous, but gas rich galaxies in voids, superclusters and clusters and may ultimately be used to test theories of galaxy formation. The first H I images will be presented of optically already known void galaxies and their environment. H I images of galaxies in the nearest clusters reveal the processes at work that affect the evolution of galaxies in the densest environments. Moving out in redshift (z=0.1) puts an entire clusters within the field of view providing new insights in the structure of the cluster. Finally I will present observations on the ultimate morphological evolution, the fate of gas in mergers of disk galaxies evolving into ellipticals.
