Understanding the connection between detailed molecular gas properties, star formation, nuclear activity and environment in galaxies have so far lacked of statistical significance. We aim to build and analyze high-resolution maps of the dense and warm molecular gas component, within the circumnuclear regions of IR-bright nearby galaxies located in the southern hemisphere. The dense and warm molecular gas is traced from HCN(1-0), HCO+(1-0) and HNC(1-0), which, together with our high-resolution CO data, will allow us to tackle fundamental studies such as the SF laws and the molecular gas properties and its interplay between starburst and AGN activity. Our sample is composed of N=35 CO-bright galaxies in the southern sky, that had no previous high resolution molecular gas data due the lack of mm/submm interferometers in the southern hemisphere, until the advent of SMA where we have successfully mapped CO(2-1).
