We have carried out optical and near-infrared observations of the Rossi
XTE and ROSAT error circles for the bursting pulsar transient X-ray
source GRO J1744-28, using the ARC 3.5m telescope at Apache Point
Observatory. We present the results of these observations and discuss
their implications for the nature of the source.
