The strongly interacting binary star AR Lac was observed for two years, 1976 and 1977, during which a total of 235 observations for the check star (BD +44°4041) and a total of 1327 observations for AR Lac were made in two colors. The yellow light curve of the check star and the yellow and blue light curves and the color curve of AR Lac are presented.
The depth of the primary minimum in the yellow light shows no variation in any one year hut 0.08 magnitude difference between the two years. This indicates a long-term light variation of the KO component of AR Lac. Nine new times of minimum light, five in 196972 and four in 197977, were determined. Although the first five times of minima agree with those of Chamhliss' observations, the last four times of minima show that the orbital period has been constant over ten years since 1967 hut should he decreased by 0.d0000070 from his value. As an explanation for the cause of the light variability, tests have been made for the star-spot model and for the shell model, hut neither of these satisfies either the color variation during the primary eclipse or the constant color outside eclipses.
