A variety of methods have been developed around Spitzer data to identify active galactic nuclei (AGN) and complement deep X-ray searches for these objects. We review: 1.) use of the 24 μm to 1.4 GHz flux ratio; 2.) IRAC color-color diagrams; 3.) identification of sources with power-law spectra across the IRAC bands; and 4.) the role of AGN in high-redshift galaxies with extreme spectral energy distributions. The combination of these methods can boost the number of AGN candidates by a factor of 1.54 to 1.77 over the numbers estimated from the deepest X-ray surveys. About 15% of the faintest 24 μm sources host prominent AGNs, and such sources account for about 15% of the 24 μm background to the Spitzer detection limits.
