Knowledge on mass loss rates, the dependence of the mass loss rates on the stellar parameters luminosity, mass, and radius, and velocity laws is summarized. Mass loss rates, derived from ultraviolet data, the variability of the mass loss, episodic mass loss, and two component models, are discussed. The importance of the ionization fractions for the determination of the mass loss rates is stressed.
