We present new, medium resolution spectra and high resolution coronographic images of the nebula around HD168625, taken in June 1994, May and October 1995. We find that the nebula has a complex morphology, which includes an inner elliptical shell (12'' x 16'' in size) and fainter filaments forming two outer loops in the northern and southern regions, suggesting an overall bipolar structure. The nebular dynamics show a shell expanding at ~ 40 km/s, centered on the star, and the detected N enrichment suggests that the nebula is formed by ejected stellar material. We determine a nebular mass of 0.5 Msun, an upper limit in T_e of 7,000 K and an averaged N_e of 1500 cm(-3) , which are fairly typical of nebulae around LBVs. We also find that between May and October 1995, HD168625 dimmed by ~ 0.3 mag and its temperature diminished from 15,000 K to 12,000 K. We conclude that, although HD168625 has not displayed LBV type variations in the past few decades, it has undergone a LBV type outburst ~ 10(3) yrs ago. The morphology of its surrounding nebula suggests a wind, interacting with a density contrast as shaping mechanism.
