The hard X-ray sources 1E0643-1648 and 4U1849-31 were observed with IUE at low spectral resolution. The two sources show an UV spectrum typical of cataclysmic variables, in particular their line spectrum is characterized by strong resonance lines in emission. The UV continuum is compared with the predicted energy distribution from black body, power law and accretion disk models. Comparison of 2A0526-328 and H2252-035 indicates that the flux distribution from UV to optical can be described by standard steady state accretion disk emission with self consistent parameters. However, optical and ultraviolet data suggest that these sources could be intermediate between polar and nonmagnetic systems.
