Somewhat paradoxically, clusters of galaxies are both the densest regions in the Universe and the most rich in apparently fragile dE and related classes of early-type dwarf galaxies. We are exploring the relationship between dE galaxies and clusters through a pilot program of CCD imaging in the B- and R-bands with the WIYN 3.5-m telescope. In this poster we present initial results, obtained under sub-arcsecond seeing conditions, for the Perseus Cluster. This cluster of galaxies is noteworthy for pronounced substructure in its central regions, and for the presence of the remarkable supergiant galaxy NGC 1275 (Per A). We have identified several dE galaxies in this cluster, allowing a comparison with optical properties of well-studied dE galaxies in the Virgo and Fornax clusters. We also have found a highly distorted galaxy near NGC 1275, which seems to be the only clear example of a severely tidally-stressed system in the cluster core.
