The number of astronomical observation hours (NAOH) is an important problem in astronomy, atmospheric physics and geophysics. Although NAOH observations have been conducted at many observatories and other institutions for many years (Siedentopf 1968; Muller 1968; CITO Reprints, Dec. 1968; Westerlund 1970; Walker 1970, Proceedings of the Tashkent Astron. Observatory, 1935; Novikov 1970; Novikova 1970; Tugjisuren et al. 1973; Tugjisuren et al. 1978, Proceedings of International Scientific Conference on Atmospheric Optics, 1991), a comprehensive investigation on NAOH in Asia is practically lacking. We present a detailed study of the NAOH in different regions of Mongolia, which covers a sizeable area. The main results of the studies on NAOH at several sites in Mongolia are discussed. The maximum NAOH, minimum NAOH, probable NAOH and some climatic properties of our sites related to astronomy requirements are determined. Figure 1 presents a map of Mongolia with the locations of those sites for which the NAOH were determined. Data about these sites are given in the Appendix.
