A search for persistent nonstellar anomalies has been made in 16 Algol-like binaries with orbital periods about 1 to 12 d. Five-color standardized photometry outside eclipse and at mid-primary eclipse shows that in 14 systems, the continuum optical flux distribution of each star is normal. Two dissimilar systems, RS Cephei (P = 12.4 d) and AI Draconis (P = 1.2 d) show large ultraviolet excesses at mid-eclipse suggestive of hot continuum sources.
