We present flux and circular polarization spectra for three magnetic white dwarfs - PG 1658+441, PG 0136+251, KUV 2316+123 - with magnetic field strengths between 130 Tesla and 3500 Tesla. In this magnetic field range line profiles are strongly influenced by electric fields of about 10^7^V/m present in the dense atmospheres of white dwarfs. Taking these strong electric fields into account we calculate model spectra to compare them with observed spectra. It could be shown that line broadening due to electric and magnetic fields is sufficient to explain the broad line profiles of PG 1658+441 and PG 0136+251.
