Some properties of the external metric field of a massive rotating charged body in Qian's (1979) vector graviton metric field theory are investigated. The gravitational redshift in the metric field is examined, as are the existence of an event horizon and the force acting on a test particle. It is shown that in Qian's theory: (1) any massive charged body gives rise to only a finite redshift, which is maximum at the equator; (2) a massive uncharged rotating body gives rise to an infinite redshift only at the equator; (3) a massive body that is rotating and/or charged may collapse into a black hole only if it loses all its angular momentum and/or charge during the collapse; (4) such a body cannot collapse indefinitely because of a strong repulsion at small distances; (5) depending on its distance from the body, a test particle outside a massive rotating charged body experiences no radial force, an attractive radial force, or a repulsive radial force; and (6) such a test particle also experiences a meridional force.
