The citation studies of Abt (1981 - 1985) provide a basis of comparison for assessing the research done at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory. The comparison shows that D.A.O. publications are referenced in the astronomical literature as frequently as comparable publications from the major United States observatories (K.P.N.O., C.T.I.O., Lick, and Palomar) and research publications supported by the National Science Foundation of the United States.
