Scientific paper

A new model for quasars based on stellar captures by the accretion disk
is summarized. The model solves the problem of how matter is transported
close to the black hole in a quasar, and can account for the M σ
relation. It predicts that all quasars occur in an environment of
extremely high stellar density during nuclear starbursts.
