The stars in a remote southwestern part of the LMC show that at this position 4.5 kpc from the center of the Cloud the stellar population is dominated by an intermediate population of stars; a true Population II is not detectable in the color-magnitude diagram, which resembles in many respects those for other remote areas of the LMC. The main-sequence luminosity function is steeper than that reported for the LMC bar, which probably means that this remote field has a somewhat older mean age - found to be about 3 Gyrs. Surprisingly, there is no evidence of significant numbers of stars either younger or older than about 2 - 3 Gyrs.
