A method for evaluating the equilibrium surface of a fluid planet is presented which does not make use of the Clairaut differential equation. The solution is obtained by means of an iterative procedure using a perfectly spherical planet as an initial solution and then improving the results through small corrections. Results of calculations of the equilibrium surface for the earth are presented.
