An optical linear polarization map of the nebulosity associated with the
Herbig Haro object HH57 is presented. The HH complex is illuminated and
excited by a recently recognized FU Ori type star within the nebulosity.
The possibility of the "interstellar nozzle" mechanism playing a part in
the formation of HH57 is considered.
