Two strategies for spaceborne interferometry are suggested. The first is a large filled aperture consisting of a mosaic of light-weight mirrors. Internal referencing is used to coalign and approximately cophase the array. Diffraction-limited imaging is achieved by means of interferometric techniques such as roll deconvolution or pupil-plane interferometry. The second is a diluted array of diffraction-limited telescopes. Such an array can be exactly coaligned and cophased using internal and/or external reference. In case of either strategy, pointing accuracy and mechanical vibrations limit the system performances.
