Remote sensing of middle atmosphere structure (composition, temperature, density); remote sensing of middle atmosphere dynamics; and experimental, in-situ investigations of middle atmosphere electrodynamics are reviewed. Rocket campaigns are being planned to provide simultaneous observations of the interlinked parameters observable with these techniques. Using observational capabilities from the Space Station/Polar Platform, or other space-based facilities, it becomes possible to map many of these parameters over large regions of the atmosphere.
