The rotational stability of rapidly rotating white dwarfs is considered
for several equations of state. Lower bounds on the masses of the white
dwarfs are deduced. It is also shown that if the period of rotation is
less than ≡14 s, the composition of the white dwarf must consist
of ions heavier than He.
