Radial velocities and generalized Compton effects were computed for the spectra of four O stars (HD 108, HD 151804, HD 152408, and HD 148937) and of three B stars (HD 41117, HD 152236, and Wray 977). These values were also computed for the spectrum of YY Orionis. From these studies it appears that the ratio (lambdas - lambdaL)/lambda sub L, where lambdas is the wavelength of the line observed in the stellar spectrum and lambdaL is the wavelength of the corresponding laboratory line, of the Balmer lines increases rapidly with the inverse of the lambdaL value, being quite negative for the lower members of the series. Two model mantles that can describe the behavior of the spectral lines are discussed.
