BD + 48 deg 1958A, a dM0e star that has exhibited H-alpha variability on a time scale of hours, is shown to be a single-line spectroscopic binary of short period (1.03 days). A secondary component of H-alpha visible on only one plate, is attributed to the normally unseen, flaring secondary component. The system is predicted to show photometrically detectable flares, and V-band variations similar to those seen in BY Dra and CC Eri.
