Extensive X-ray data on the OB runaway star mu Col, which lies near the
center of the error box for the source 3U 0545-32, failed to reveal a
significant signal from a region of sky 12 arc min in diameter centered
on the star. This result adds no support to the hypothesis that some
runaway stars may be associated with collapsed companions.
