A space-time model with one spatial and one temporal coordinate is developed in which the velocity of light is constant (in different reference systems moving uniformly with respect to each other). The distance scale 'to the right' and 'to the left' differs, however, within the same system, i.e., the space does not possess the property of isotropy. This anisotropy is characterized by a certain constant. When this constant equals unity, the formalism proposed becomes a Lorentz-Einstein formalism.
