Observations of HZ Her in the region of the light curve minimum are discussed which prove the existence of an extended bright object (apparently a disk of accreting matter) around the X-ray source in the system. A plateau in the light curve is observed which has a duration of about 2 hours and corresponds to the total eclipse of the disk and the stellar hemisphere heated by X-rays. In the region of the minimum, HZ Her shows a lack of UV as compared to main-sequence stars while long-period variability in luminosity is observed in the region of the maximum. These phenomena are explained by the possibility that the star and disk may be illuminated by a pulsar beam primarily from one side and then the other. Different depths and widths are observed in the light curve minima of V1357 Cyg in the 0 and 0.5 phases along with strong variability in luminosity superimposed on periodical tidal variations in the stellar shape. The star is found to fill more than 2/3 of its critical Roche lobe, and an upper limit is placed on its luminosity. It is shown that the mass of the probable black hole exceeds 3.1 solar masses and the distance to the system does not exceed 2 kpc.
