Newly born stars provide important feedback mechanisms for regulating star formation. UV radiation heats the dust and gas in photon dominated regions (PDRs) driving a complex chemical network. We propose to carry out a deep integration line survey in the 3~mm range toward 3 PDRs in the very prominent Carina star forming region using the MOPS spectrometer at Mopra. The results from this investigation will provide ample data to test chemical models of these sources for which several complementary studies are on the way: Carina is one of the key targets within a Herschel guaranteed time key project to study the warm and dense ISM in a sample of Galactic PDRs. The authors of this proposal have ongoing observing projects of Carina using NANTEN2 and APEX.
