For a stationary black hole in an asymptotically flat vacuum spacetime in the Einsteinian gravity, the spacetime is uniquely given by the Kerr solution. This is called the black hole uniqueness theorem. This means that under these assumptions, the properties of the Kerr solution must be the properties of general black holes. However, our universe is expanding and filled with matter fields. Hence, realistic black holes would not be in vacuum. They exist in the expanding universe and hence are not asymptotically flat. Moreover, they could accrete surrounding mass and hence grow in time. The Kerr solution will give a very good approximation in some cases but not in the other. Here, we focus on the effects of the expanding universe filled with matter fields on black hole dynamics. We would call black holes in an expanding universe cosmological black holes to put an emphasis on this particular aspect of the astrophysical black holes...
