Rb-Sr isotopic systematics of the Roter Kamm rim samples confirm that their source is the Namaqualand basement; the Rb-Sr isotopic system was not disturbed by the impact event. K-Ar ages of pseudotachylite and melt breccia samples indicate the dominant presence of incompletely degassed fragments of basement rocks. The abundances of the cosmogenic nuclides Be-10 and Al-26 give no evidence of either erosion or extended burial. Two glassy fractions were isolated from a rim granite sample and dated by Ar-40-Ar-39 analysis to 3.7 +/- 0.3 Ma.
