As the dynamical intermediaries between Kuiper Belt Objects (KBOs) and Jupiter Family Comets (JFCs), centaurs are an interesting transitional population of icy bodies that display physical characteristics of both KBOs and JFCs. We have obtained near infrared spectra (1.4-2.5 microns) of over 24 centaurs with the Near Infrared Camera on the Keck I Telescope. We have parameterized the spectra of these objects by calculating the fraction of water ice and a dark continuum component on their surfaces using Hakpe modeling. In search of correlations between the dynamics of centaurs and their physical properties, we also carried out an extensive study of the dynamical evolution of these objects and compared their physical characteristics with their statistical lifetimes, average perihelion distances, and other dynamical properties. We present the results of our study and discuss the possibility of correlations between the physical characteristics of centaurs and their lifetimes and dynamics.
