Magellan radar images are noted to verify the volcanic character of Venera and VEGA lander images and geochemical data; if the latter compositional data are roughly representative of the upper crust, merely 10 km of the average material distributted globally would contain as much K as all of the terrestrial continental and oceanic crust. Venus' crust is suggested to represent the differentiated magmatic equivalent of the Earth's granitoid continents, as well as the anorthositic lunar highlands. The Venus mantle is noted to be almost identical to that of the Earth, and different from all other planetary objects of known composition, implying that the combined geochemical effects of condensation, accretion, and core formation were very similar.
