Large 2D point samples extracted from a pancake model with Omega = 1 are analyzed and compared to recent deep 1D pencil beam surveys. It is shown that the observed periodicity of wall peaks is reproduced well by most of the model beams which cross several walls in the simulation. Probing large Gpc-slices only weakly supports the assumption of constant comoving pair separation to larger depths. The dependence on the opening angle of beams, the thickness of walls, the spatial resolution, and the sample size is related to typical parameters of the model. These relations are used to obtain the spatial resolution of the model.
