Observations of A and F stars at the North Galactic Pole are discussed in terms of two significant correlations. The intrinsic stellar parameters delta m1 and delta c1 are found to correlate with interstellar reddening, and the implications of the correlation are considered. The magnitude-limited sample results in bias which is evident in the relationship between the dust along the sight lines, the state of stellar evolution, and the average stellar composition. The correlations are explained by considering the fact that the observational probability varies indirectly with distance for less evolved stars. This implies that it is impossible to observe similar age ranges for various metallicities and therefore most old metal-rich stars. The observed correlations are expected because selection effects introduced by the limiting magnitude determine the range of E(b-y) and delta c1 that can be observed as a function of distance.
