single-wall carbon nanotubes, one atomic layer in thickness in radial direction. These single-wall nanotubes were generally found along with much larger concentrations of amorphous carbon, carbon nanoparticles and other carbon-based materials. The electric-arc technique offers more efficient synthesis method to grow single-wall nanotubes (Nature, 338, 756, 1997). . the flow motion during the process. In this investigation, the natural convection on the growth of single-wall carbon nanotubes by electric-arc technique is studied using numerical simulation model. In order to reduce the convection, a magnetic field is applied to regulate the flow and thermal field during the process. The Lorentz force induced by the applied magnetic field thus reduces the natural convection in the domain. calculate the temperature at the electrodes and the flow characteristics in the chamber. Gravity effects in carbon nanotube growth by thermal chemical vapor deposition is also investigated by scientists at Marshall Space flight Center (2nd Pan Pacific Workshop ob Micrigravity Sciences,CG-1228,2001). gravity effects on electric arc technique nanotube growth by simulation model of control volume method to evaluate to flow characteristics of the flow properties in the chamber. The flow and temperature patterns are going to compare with those of the existing solutions and evaluate the gravity effects on the carbon nanotubes growth processes.
