We have obtained near-infrared (JK) imaging for 67 star-forming galaxies from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid survey. Aperture photometry at one and three disk-scale lengths have been performed on the J, K and r-band images. By comparing the r - J, J - K colors and equivalent widths of Hα with evolutionary synthesis models we derive the mass of newly formed stars, which is typically a 1 per cent of the galaxy stellar mass. The galaxy stellar masses obtained range between 3x10^9 and 3x10^11 M_solar. The distribution of burst strengths and specific star formation rates indicate a low level of star formation activity.
