Methods for obtaining spectra of organic compounds bound to polymer supports for solid-phase synthesis are compared. ATR is the most convenient method for compounds on beads while diffuse reflection with abrasive sampling is preferred for crown supports. Microscopy is used for single beads or to investigate the distribution on crowns. FT Raman spectra can be obtained very easily but the data are perhaps less useful than IR for monitoring reactions.
